01.09.24 - Tywyn, Mach Loop and lunch at Cross Foxes

Let's get out to Bala and then an old favourite to Dolgellau, before heading to Tywyn for fish & chips. Come back up the Mach Loop and head back toward Welshpool before turning right for home.

So just chatted to Mrs C about lunch and F&C's are not going to be on the menu - so may change to the Cross Foxes Dolgellau.

Should be 4:33 hrs ride time and 164 miles...But ended up significantly bigger as the Bala - Dolgellau road was closed so had to turn right before Bala and do another one of our favourite roads - the A4212 around the dam and sweeping over towards Trawsfynydd. Again, the ride was extended as there was a significant delay on the A5/A483, so we deviated off, going through Knockin and Ellesmere. We ended up doing 190 miles and 5:15 ride time.

Not sure what happed to PC's sat nav, as the bike disconnected the App so didn't record all the trip - bit annoying, but as we now have Toby's App to back us up, it was fine!! Just recorded his short hop to Sainsbury's for petrol.

We stopped off for a quick coffee in Tywyn and although we're 45 mins from lunch, Mrs C had been mithering about a packet of crisps for the previous 45 minutes!!! The Beachside cafe is a regular haunt for us on this coast and a nice place to stop and look out over the Irish Sea. It was certainly blowing a hooly on the sea front, but wrapped up nicely in our gear, headed off to Aberdyfi.

Fully recommend the Cross Foxes for Sunday lunch - probably best to book a table as it was absolutely rammed! The lunch was superb again.
Very often the Mach loop is used by the RAF to train and you can see lots of these things buzzing around.
All very very smooth today, the bike was performing exceptionally well, there was a drizzle of rain throughout the day, but it was enjoyable to ride in different weather conditions. The roads were slightly greasy, especially the oil in the middle of the Mach Loop road, which made us keep our wits about us. However this all adds the enjoyment.

Obviously had to stop for a customary pint at the GL to finish the day off...
