26.08.24 - Lake Vyrnwy, Bala, Ffestiniog, Betws, Ruthin, Llangollen & Home
Bank holiday ride out
163 miles and 4:32 hours ride time. Hit 1.0G deceleration for the 1st time ever!
Lake Vyrnwy, Bala, Ffestiniog, Betws-y-coed, Ruthin and home!!
1st a pit stop for coffee, tea and crips in Lake V cafe.
As Caroline lives her life through her tummy and where we are going to eat, we have chosen a new destination near Bala...From the front it looks at bit ropey, but we've passed it a number of times and it looks a lot better that in the photo - Caroline has already chosen the Monk fish Linguine. The menu looks very good!
Intended Pub for lunch
Rode down to the pub from the mountain road, cutting through a little country lane; arrived and the place was desolate, deserted and considerably run down... Decided to go to the old favourite - yes, Hangin' Pizzeria in Betws. We were on our way there anyway, so it wasn't a problem.
The route home was also changed and we veered off right after going through the Nant-y-Garth pass to do the horseshoe pass into Llangollen and home from there. Obviously had to have our obligatory stop at The Golden Lion for a quick pint!!
Reflecting on the day, it was lovely to be out and the roads were a lot quieter than we anticipated, but PC's riding was certainly not up to par - the bike felt a bit heavy and cumbersome for some reason and the riding wasn't anywhere near as smooth as normal. Mrs C also noticed and whilst not commenting on the journey, we did discuss when we got back. I think a further ride out soon is required so we can get back to normal riding and resume the excellent, safe, smooth and somewhat normality of our riding!!!
