02.08.24 - Lighthouse Weekend

406 miles in total, this was combined over 3 days, starting on the Friday and then meeting up with Toby on the Saturday morning for a long ride out around Anglesey and Snowdonia.

Went to Fouzis before we headed off to Llandudno, very nice too thank you!! Luka had promised to get chef to make me the best Carpaccio in town, and he wasn't wrong, it was fabulous!!

We did stop at the Cottage Loaf for a sneaky point before heading up to The Lighthouse, which was to be our home for the next 3 days.
Stan left at home and feeling very sorry for himself!!! He was fine though and Louis looked after hime pretty well!
Even though it was August, it was freezing cold, so sitting outside with the blankies around us. Watching the sunset over Anglesey's just lovely. No noise, nothing - not even a seagull, well maybe the odd one, but all in all, very quiet and peaceful!
The view is pretty stunning, looking out to the west over Anglesey. You can normally see the sun going down over the back of the island, but it just slipped away without sign tonight.
Yes it might be August, but it was very chilly, so after we'd finished one glass of "proccecco," we abandoned the garden and went back to the room. We were staying in the haunted room that we'd experienced last time - not a peep this time though, shame!!!

The 2024 Olympics were on so we had a great night of sport on the iPlayer. Wifi was bobbins (as Mrs C called it), so it kept cutting out periodically!
Morning arrived and it was a beautiful day to go for a lovely long ride out. 1st of all though, a massive breakfast!! We had the lot! Met some people for Warrington and from Florida, who were staying in the other two rooms, nice chat, bit boring, but most people we meet are boring (well not all of them, but we're pretty unsocial.)

This view behind us is looking back over the road around the north of the Great Orme from the driveway of The Lighthouse.
Toby came to join us for the weekend, so getting ready for a lovely long day out on the bikes. Early start for Toby, as he arrived not much after 8am. The aim of the day was to ride around Anglesey with Dani on Toby's bike and Geth having his 1st family ride out on the back of Steff's bike.

What a brilliant ride it was, Geth was like a natural and his most enjoyable bits were leaning into the bends!! He did send his mother loopy after pretending to fall asleep on the back of the bike.
Mother and daughter - two peas in a pod smiling at the camera!!! It's because they both know food is coming soon.

Lunch at our favourite pub on Anglesey - The Ship Inn at Red Wharf Bay It was hot hot hot and we had a really excellent lunch, as usual in this pub...

The little fella's 1st run out with us and he did really really well. A couple of hours on the back of the bike...He'll definitely be welcome to come again, as he was awesome. 2 hours was the maximum for him though, he was starting to tire by then, so we finished at the right time.
P, C and T then carried on riding and went back to Llandudno via the Pen-y-Pass, Betws, Llanrwst and Conwy.

Got to the B&B Toby was staying in and.....Oh no, Toby dropped the bike and that ended the weekend for him, so had to get rescued home. BMW Assist does it again!!

It's always a sad sight to see the bike get towed away...
But the weekend continued for P&C with the normal "Proccecco" on the back lawn watching the sunset over Anglesey. Still very chilly but were more prepared this time with proper blankets. We managed to finish the bottle this time before retuning to the room for more Olympics .
Leaving early in the morning to ride out to the Llyn Peninsular, riding through Neffyn and stopping at Aberdaron for a coffee and cake pit stop at the Two Seas cafe on the bridge in the village centre.
Left Aberdaron, but weren't ready to go straight home so rode down the winding coast road to Abersoch, having nearly been taken out twice by some crazy young Golf GTi drivers. Never again shall we go into Abersoch. It was just crazy busy down every road.

Headed down the coast and ended up having lunch at our favourite cafe in Barmouth - Davy Jones Locker, on the front of the harbour. Shared the chilli and chips this time, as one each is far too much.....
Meanwhile, in Gresford, Toby's GS being picked up to go to Halliwell Jones and get repaired.
