02.11.24 - Little circle to Montgomeryshire and back

The day has finally arrived for Karen’s inaugural ride on the new bike! She had a bit of a struggle getting into her gear, momentarily forgetting how to zip up the boots and fasten the helmet.

We’re planning a trip down to Craven Arms, then heading west to Rhayader for a lunch stop.

Geared up for departure, but Karen was still fiddling with her kit. We set off in a light drizzle, though it quickly dried up. The roads were in decent shape, but we stayed cautious of mud and leaves.

Micky was supposed to join us, but after coming off his bike last week on a muddy road, he was feeling a bit sore. So it ended up being just the four of us.

We made our way to Craven Arms via Whitchurch and Shrewsbury, then took a left toward Knighton. I’d forgotten just how great the A488 from Knighton really is; it was a joy to ride, especially through the open farmland with sheep grazing nearby. We picked up the A44, a fantastic and usually quiet road!

Stopped at Morgan's in Rhayader for a light lunch before setting off again, altering our original route home as the temperature started to drop and daylight began to fade. Instead, we headed up to Newtown, then Welshpool, ending with a quick pint at the GL.
